Tag Installation Troubleshooting
If you have followed our tag installation guide and your Untitled ID Tag is still not firing or processing data after one to two hours, please review the troubleshooting guide below for common issues and fixes.
Common Tag Installation Issues
Google Tag Manager Was not “Submitted”
If you are utilizing Google Tag Manager and have followed our GTM guide on placing the Untitled ID Tag, a common misstep is not “submitting” your changes once the new tag has been created. To submit your changes, sign into your Google Tag Manager account.
Make sure your newly created tag is still there with the trigger set to “All Pages”. If so, be sure to click the blue “Submit” button located in the top right corner of GTM.
Upon clicking the “Submit” button, you will be asked to add a version name and description. Once you’ve done so, save your changes and the tag should now be live.

Clear Your Website Cache
If you are utilizing a cacheing plugin, CDN, or something similar, you may need to clear the cache from your web server. Most hosting providers or third-party plugins have documentation that outlines how to clear or purge your cache. This is a common issue we’ve seen for those utilizing Wordpress (Instructions for clearing your cache in Wordpress). Although utilizing caching plugins and CDNs is highly recommended, you may need to clear the cache in order for the tag to populate right away.
Tag Is Not Placed in the <head> File
The Untitled ID Tag needs to be located in your <head> file, or at least right before the closing </head>. Please double check and make sure you have not placed the tag in the <body> or <footer>. This ensures the tag will fire upon a page load, not when a user scrolls to load additional files and content.
